Congratulations to Mrs. Runyon - Sims Middle School's Teacher of the Year!

This is a final reminder regarding our Flu Mist vaccine clinic that will be here at the school on Wednesday, October 14th. If you plan to take advantage of this convenient opportunity, please remember to complete the consent form sent home with beginning of the year paperwork, and return it to the school by Tuesday, 9/8. If you need another copy of the consent form, please contact the school.

It has been a wonderful week at Sims. Please continue to support Sims by purchasing a coupon book and joining PTO! There is so much happening this week. Here is the Scoop for the week of September 7-11 .

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires that school districts provide parents with an annual state, district, and school status reports to include but not limited to the following: student achievement, accountability and subgroup data.

The FDOE uses data to produce readily accessible school and district report cards, providing transparent information to all stakeholders. The district report card specifically reports on progress toward transitioning students from one level (elementary, middle, high) to the next and reports graduation data.

You may access the report for Sims Middle School by going to https://edudata.fldoe.org/index.html
and looking up Thomas L. Sims Middle School.

Don't forget about our PTO coupon book fundraiser. There is even an option to just send a donation to PTO if you do not want to sell books. While the next official turn in day is September 8, Mrs. Morel will be happy to fill orders from the front office.

Here is what is happening at Sims the week of August 31-September 4.

For your convenience, our Department of Health nurses will be offering the Flu Mist vaccine here at our school on October 14, 2026. Your student should have brought home consent forms and information in their beginning of the school year paperwork. The consent form, which includes a front and back page, must be completed and returned to the school by Tuesday, September 8, 2026, for your student to receive the Flu Mist vaccine on campus during our vaccine clinic. Please review this packet, complete both the front and the back of the consent form and return it to the school by 9/8/25 if you wish to take advantage of this convenient opportunity. This year, our health department will be administering the nasal Flu Mist vaccine to every age group of students. No student will receive a vaccine without a properly completed consent form.

Tomorrow at Sims Middle School we will begin our state required instruction series with a lesson on the dangers of fentanyl.
